The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Round 2

Another trip to the famous grilled cheese lunch spot, The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen.

Last time, I raved about the cool decor, this time, the mushroom Gruyère won me over.

The wheat bread was filled with Fontina, Gruyère, roasted wild mushrooms and gold potatoes, melted leeks, caramelized onions and thyme butter. The combination of potatoes in a grilled cheese sandwich sounded odd, but I really enjoyed the different textures. The cheese was thick, but didn't taste too strong—just the way I like it
