Ramen Hunt, Part 1

Antonia was researching ramen places in San Francisco for an article and lucky me, I was her chosen companion.

First up, Izakaya Sozai in the Sunset.

We first started with hamachi carpaccio that came with a mustard miso vinaigrette and jalapeño. We also shared their daily special of fried baby octopus (my favorite Japanese appetizer) and a refreshing daikon salad in cilantro vinaigrette.

What about the ramen?

We each had our own tonkotsu ramen with pork belly. The broth was rich and full of pork flavor (it's made of pork bone stock). But, fortunately, it wasn't greasy and heavy, like most ramen broths. The pork belly and noodles were excellent.

Pretty darn good ramen for SF. I'd definitely go back.
