From Scratch

After breakfast, we drove to Indiana to stay for a few days at Jason's aunt's and uncle's house.

The first night's dinner was a spectacular meal cooked by his cousin, Lisa. My plate had a little bit of everything – Parmesan spaghetti, homemade poppy seed dressing with mixed greens, cheese pizza, ravioli with sage and pine nuts, sautéed green beans, grilled chicken breast and fresh bread with garlic puree.

My favorite was the bread, which Lisa mentioned was from New York Times writer Mark Bittman. I'll need to get the actual recipe, if I ever decide to make bread – now that would be something! The cheese pizza was also very good and a great idea for an appetizer.

Every single dish, including the bread, was from scratch. Amazing! If only I had the talent and patience to do this.

Thank you Lisa for the delicious meal!
